My Jump, Jump Jack Video

I finally got my Jump, jump jack video up... better late then never right?
www.youtube.com/trainertfitness

There are 2 versions and believe me you can add a few of these puppies into your daily workout or through out your day and blast some fat to the curb! I have been teaching these forever and I don't really know if I am the creator or not however I love taking the basic moves and pumping them up! (Ok that's an Governor Arnold quote)

Please feel free to rate it for me.

I had a good weekend, not as productive as I thought but I was good at avoiding some really bad food choices.

Did you know TGIF serves fried green beans? WHAT!?

Its true, and I did try 1 of these without the dipping sauce. www.tgifridays.com/menus/Menus.aspx

They are called Crispy Green Bean Fries, wonder how many calories are in this once healthy bean gone fat???

If anyone can find the nutritional information on this let me know.

I had to make my own meal at Fridays where we had lunch. Since we had never been there before, they gave us a FREE sample of 2 of Fridays own starter treats. We had the Jack Daniels Chicken Chunks and the Fried Green beans, and I tasted 2 of the beans and had 1/2 of a nugget. Both were good and of course full of fat. So I stuck with my good diet and I ordered "special" since there was nothing healthy that would fit my diet right now.

I ordered:
1 plain grilled chicken breast
Plain side salad w/ vinaigrette on the side for dipping.
2 Waters

Now please note if you ask a place to make you something do it nice and let them know you have certain diet needs and they will do what you want.
Of course they brought it out and I had to send it back because they put some stuff on it, they just could NOT believe someone could order a plain grilled chicken breast. No problem though I just ate my side salad while I waited for the food to be re-prepared.

Other then that, it was back to my diet the rest of day with the exception of a iced mocha from Mc Donald's. I think I did good... but then again, my trainer will maybe not see that so much.

I'm getting used to the oats, mixed with cottage cheese and blueberries now, and that's HUGE! I am starting to see my abs more and I'm sticking at 116.
All good news.

Had some great workouts over the weekend. As a matter of fact I even jumped in and did 30 minutes of the Power Yoga class on Saturday...GO T! Let me tell you how sore my glutes and legs were. I was trying to do the Tree pose and shaking so much I think I was messing with the girl in front of me, throwing her off. I felt bad about that so I finally just did chair pose. Sheesh!

Have you ever been that sore before?

That's a good thing really it is, because it shows that I really taxed out my muscles.

Sunday was my cardio day and got in a steady 35 minutes burning 325 calories and 5500 steps. I was happy with that, and I only changed inclines 2 times. Its hard for me to stay calm but I did, and I stayed at my HR range (Yup, I'm a bit hyper.)

After that cardio session I felt kinda on cloud 9 because I walked passed Jane (she's gay) and said "good morning Jane" and she was checking out my thighs! They must be looking good now, because this girl is R-I-P-P-E-D! She does that tough stair climber like is nothing, and looks like she could compete at a drop of a hat. I think her body fat is at about 9% year round.

Has anyone found a good Greek yogurt?

I tried some the plain and OMG it taste like sour cream! I love that it has 24g of protein and only 4 carbs but holly cow help me with the taste! Anyone have a better flavor or should I get strawberry or what? Instead of throwing it out I used it to make my Green Monsters for the week and even chocolate whey could not cover the bitter taste HELP!

Do You Fight Your Health?

Are you a Fighter?

http://www.christinaaguilera.com/

Heck yeah when it comes to your health and wellness!

Today as I was working out and listened to this song FIGHTER on my player, I thought of these words and how they can relate to fitness/diet. Most of the time, it comes down to emotions. Remember only YOU can make yourself feel a certain way and you are in control of your emotions. It may not be easy at times, but if you can take hold you can change.

Please see how I added some thoughts next to each lyric, you may be at this point in your life and this may inspire you. I love this song for that reason, if you know it and your "stuck" just play this over and over and become a fighter because you are SO worth it!

Fighter Lyrics
Christina Aguilera
(with added thoughts by Trainer T.)

After all you put me through (fat & blubber)
You'd think I'd despise you (cellulite)
But in the end I wanna thank you 'cause you made that much stronger (Kicking you to the curb!)
Well I thought I knew you, thinkin' that you were true (helping me emotionally)
Guess I, I couldn't trust and called your bluff (I'm already full but its so good)
time is up 'Cause I've had enough (Now I can't button my pants)
You were there by my side, always down for the ride (tasting so good and making me think I felt better)
But your joy ride just came down in flames
'Cause your greed sold me out of shame, mhm (your stealing my health)

After all of the stealing and cheating you probably think that
I hold resentment for you (diabetes, high blood pressure & cholesterol)
But uh uh, oh no, you're wrong
'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do, (strain my heart and body & take me away from my family and friends)
I wouldn't know Just how capable I am to pull through (I'm WORTH IT!)
So I wanna say thank you 'Cause it

Makes me that much stronger (to have a better quality of life)
Makes me work a little bit harder (rid myself of fat and wear my skinny clothes again)
Makes me that much wiser (understand how your shortening my life)
So thanks for making me a fighter!

Made me learn a little bit faster (after seeing my doctor)
Made my skin a little bit thicker (knowing I can do this for me and my family)
Makes me that much smarter (I know I am in control of my actions & emotions)
So thanks for making me a fighter!

Never, saw it coming (while I was eating all these yummy fattening foods)
All of, your backstabbing (adding preservatives that keep you hungry, adding pound by pound little by little)
Just so, you could cash in (keep me buying all the cheap $1 menu foods)
On a good thing before I realized your game (convenience on the go instead of packing a cooler)

I heard, you're going around Playing, the victim now (Consumers are wising up and Sparks is educating us)
But don't, even begin Feeling I'm the one to blame (Only I can make myself feel bad and I won't anymore!)
'Cause you dug your own grave, uh huh (with all that high fructose corn syrup & hyrdrogenated oils)

After all of the fights and the lies (I can over come my emotions with positive attitudes)
Yes you wanted to harm me but that won't work anymore (Your 100 calorie pack is not worth it, I will take a piece of fruit instead)
Uh, no more, oh no, it's over (I'm at a turning point)
'Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture (making me feel guilty)
I wouldn't know how to be this way now, and never back down (Committed to be healthy)
So I wanna say thank you

How could this man (food) I thought I knew (so comforting)
Turn out to be unjust so cruel (have so much preservatives & fat in it)
Could only see the good in you (how I felt satisfied while eating you)
Pretended to not to see the truth (oh its just a few extra calories)
You tried to hide your lies, disguise yourself (in diet soda and "low fat" foods)
Through living in denial (I will start my diet/workout on monday after the weekend)

But in the end you'll see YOU-WON'T-STOP-ME!

I am a fighter and I
I ain't goin' stop (its going to take time but with consistency I can, and will do it)
There is no turning back (I want my life, I want to live long and enjoy my family and kids)
I've had enough (No more drive through! I will pack my meals)

Makes me that much stronger = Sparks
Makes me work a little bit harder = Spark Teams
It makes me that much wiser = Sparks Articles
So thanks for making me a fighter = Sparks
Made me learn a little bit faster = Sparks Food and Exercise Tracker
Made my skin a little bit thicker = Sparkler Support
Makes me that much smarter = Coach Nichole Videos
So thanks for making me a fighter = YOURSELF!

Thought I would forget, (making excuses) but I remember (how bad that was for my health)
Cause I remember (I am what I eat)

Thanks Spark People for making me a fighter......because I am worth it!

Over 40 Is Fabulous!

Over 40 is Fabulous!

Its true, Diane is 49 and I am 47! (some times I can't believe how fast time goes)

Today I got to thinking ...... how do I push myself to the next level?

I mean we look good right? Ok, we don't get carded but just sayin......

Sometimes when your already blessed healthy, and you work hard everyday to maintain a healthy lifestyle you have to dig deep to want more. To NOT be satisfied, to push for better, stronger, healthier, all to avoid ageing and the "old folks home".

It's much cheaper to maintain good health, then to try to get it back.

That's worth repeating so say it out loud....
It's much cheaper to maintain good health, then to try to get it back.

So for anyone that is fighting health issues, keep going its worth it, your worth it. Don't sit down and rust up, push yourself off that couch or chair and make a difference to YOU and your family. I tell people that tell me T. its hard, that you know what, it IS hard... but believe me it will be much harder if you have to have someone changing your bed pan and feeding you pills all day right?

Its the truth, the medical industry has a plan.

It is to get everyone in the world on 5 prescription drugs. Why? Because it makes them lots and lots of money. Oh and do you think they want you cured? Not so much, with you being cured they make NO money. Think about that would you? They are in the Sickness industry, and I am in the Wellness Industry.

Please be proactive about your health and wellness! Reach deep in your soul and fight for a healthy life even if its just baby steps. You can lower your blood pressure, your cholesterol levels, stress levels and just feel better about yourself if you do. Be good to you.

I know we all want instant results, but it just does not work that way. If you don't go through the journey you miss the life.

Getting back to myself yeah I got on a tangent...... for me to reach down, I have to say "I can eat this gross oatmeal with low fat cottage cheese and blueberries...I CAN!" Its going to make a difference this new diet, and while I finally got used to plain oats with apples this is another hurdle yet I must climb to reach a Rockstar Body!

Anyone that is starting at any fitness level, its not going to be easy but you can make changes and I will give you the secret. CONSISTANCY.

There its out, so if you do that it can, and will happen. With anything you do in life, you may take a step back but with consistancy you WILL continue on and then make 2 steps forward.

I'm on a mission to dig down deep and take my body to the next level, it won't be easy but its what I want to do. I am what I think I am, and so are YOU.

Here is my workout today:

Workout Cardio
Mood - Go T!
Wt - 116.5
Time of workout = 35 mins
Cals burned = 300

Play With The Big Boys

Day one, and my shoulder feels fabulous! I am still keeping Mondays as my off day. I got to the gym by 6.30am woo woo!

I am back playing with the big boys!

Some times I get emails from women that are afraid to workout in the weight section with the boys. Girl power.....JUST DO IT! They are more than willing to help you out, really they will. I actually like the space even though I don't use all the bigger machines, like the leg presses or hack squats but still its a nice area. I have never had someone not help me so ladies step up if you want to workout with the big weights.

I am glad to start my new program, I have 2 sessions. This is session A. What I like about this one is its more barbell then dumbbell. Since its been a while since I have used a barbell its FUN! Really I like just mixing things up so its a nice change. I will be mixing this with session B.

I started this workout with a 20lb barbell and worked up to a 30lb barbell. I wanted to make sure I was ready to increase just enough that the last few were a nice burn. I honestly was not sure how strong I would be after doing P90X or how my shoulder would feel but it was great.

One move that I always feel is the deadlift, and this one was a stiff leg deadlift. Hello glutes! I added 10lb with each set, I'm sure I could have started right off with the 40lb but I am trying to get the right amount to get the right burn.

Do you like deadlifts?

If you lift them heavy you must be sure not to strain when putting the weights back. All the power guys at the gym like to place the big barbell weights at the top of the rack and the smaller at the bottom. It's true, I have had to ask someone (guy) to remove and replace my weight bar for me. I mean really, to reach up 4' on a rack is nuts!

I got a few of the wrong things on diet this week, so its back to the store for black beans, oranges and rye bread.

Here is my workout today and I RAWKED it!

Wt - 116
Mood - Oh yeah!
Workout A
5 min elliptical warm up w/shoulder, triceps & neck stretch
Time of workout = 40 min

3x10 20lb BB Squat - 30lb last set

3x10 20lb Overhand BB row - 30lb last 2 sets
3x10 20lb BB shoulder press - 30lb last set
3x10 20lb, 30lb, 40lb BB Stiff Leg Deadlift
3x10 Hanging leg raises - last set 15

5 min cool down stretch:
Standing Hamstring
Bent over hanging

Club Fitness

Club Fitness is where I do my workouts.

http://www.clubfitness.us/

It has all the normal stuff, weight machines, free weights, cardio section and free classes. I pay a good price, $21 a month and you get to do all the classes you like. The one thing I do not like about it is, that the broken equipment stays out of order too long. Sometimes they have a cardio piece down for like a month, I have called and they did get someone to get back with me which they get extra points for. But still, this club gets lots of volume and its frustrating when its full.

I tried to find out who owns these clubs and have not been able to find out. Or even the person that concepted this, no luck. It does seem they are franchising these out, they even carry Monster Energy drinks in them now. I wonder do they know how bad that stuff is? Why would a health club want to promote that stuff? MONEY I am sure that's the reason, and I am sure Monster energy drinks are very happy to be in there clubs.

They have something called DFS which I still have no idea what that stands for, but they sub out the trainers into the club. Nice, you get all the clients without advertising GO trainers. I'm sure you give up some cash to do so, but what the heck I would think about it. Who carries the insurance, the club?

I wanted to be more productive this weekend, but that girls night out and some biz took all that away. I was going to finish re-building the flower bed the plumbers decided to destroy and then also film my new youtube videos. I was going to get that done on Saturday NOT...but hopefully I will get that done next weekend and posted. Hey Rome wasn't built in a day right?

The weather has been awesome, and my motivation has been a level 10. I got my new program from my trainer Karen and ready to roll. Lets see if I can take this body to the next level.

Here are my weekend workouts:

8/23

Westport Playhouse Girls Night Out

Girls Night Out This Saturday, I'm so excited!

http://www.theplayhouseatwestport.com/home/girlsnight.html

This is the musical we will be seeing. I wonder which girl T. is?

Carol who was born to party, blunt Anita who says it like it is, Liza and her 'issues', boring Kate the great designated driver and Sharon, the not-so-angelic angel who just couldn't resist tagging along!

Im pretty sure I am Anita, or I could be a bit of Carol I do like my fun!

Then its dinner at Westport. We have so many good places to eat I am not sure which one we will do.
Ozzys (Ozzy Smith) http://www.ozziesrestaurantandsportsbar.com/, or Pujols (Albert Pujols) http://www.pujols5grill.com/they both are Cardinals that have yummy places to eat.

Now its just what to wear? Which cute shoes?

Last night I did a 2 mile run and it was puuuurfect weather, wow. I really pumped up my music player and enjoyed myself, I did an 11 minute mile. I did not really want to push it, but thought I would start training for the 401K that is in September. Its to benefit the firemen and policemen, and its $20 to enter with all getting a t-shirt. Not bad.

I finished the "I Dare You book" and will be talking about that on my next blog. I really enjoyed this book, and it was very inspirational as well. Most of it that hits home is on your success strategy. It's all about purpose and what drives you to do the things you love. I think this is something that so many times causes failure in a fitness or nutrition plan. Myself included, its not so much how bad you want it so to speak its more like how does this effect your purpose?

As an example, you may say you want to be a fitness competitor. Yet is your purpose going to be, eating and doing the things that will give you purpose. So what you make it through the physical training, or you even make it through all the crazy eating and it is very demanding on the body especially at the end. Is it in your purpose to go through the mood swings, deprivation, not to mention giving up your life during the last few weeks just complete this? If your purpose is to become a figure coach, posing coach, or a professional figure competitor then it is your purpose. If it is to prove something to yourself it may not be your purpose, its just a challenge and will you get the joy out of it that will make your life better? I did compete and only did it to understand how the body works, educate myself on what my clients would have to do, and see how mentally strong they would have to be. Very, it is extremely grueling and taxing on the body.

There are other things in the book like your success will come to you when your doing your purpose because it will not seem like work. That's how I feel about fitness, business, helping others and design. Now sorting all this out for my purpose is what I am working on right now. Do you have a list of what you enjoy doing? You know, where time just seems to fly by? If so she says to use that list to find your purpose, and take yourself to the next level. I'm ready to do that, I am ready to take the dare and live my life with purpose and passion and I hope you are too.

Here is my workout:

Starkist Tuna Salad Sandwich Ready Albacore

I tried this and love it!

I got this on sale 5 for $5.00 since its new, I don't know what the price point will be but its a good lunch for a quick no hassle meal. You could even put this on crackers or celery its that moist.

Starkist Tuna Salad Sandwich Ready (Albacore) http://www.starkist.com/template.asp?section=products/tuna-salad.asp

Heres the facts:

Cals 90
Fat 2.5
Cholesterol 17mg
Sodium 460mg (of course thats high)
Carbs 6g
Fiber 1g
Sugar 2g
Protein 11g

Contains - Fish, soy and eggs

This is a good size portion, it overflowed on my Arnold bread buns. I like that it did not taste salty and had lots of flavor to it. Im sure if you watch out for perservatives this may not be for you. Just as everything you do from scratch you have more control over.

However good protein and this one has less calories 90 then the other that I bought 100 and will try tomorrow. Its the White tuna, this was the Albacore. I don't like that I could not find the nutritonal link to do a side by side comparison, shame on Starkist!

I would buy this again, and I really enjoyed it.

Shame On ME!

Time To Build!

I don't want to get this big......but you get the idea right?

I got 10 hours of sleep last night, yup and feel like a
C-H-A-M-P!
Sorry I did not get to get my vacation pictures up, loaded them last night then BAM too tired to do anything else. I missed 3 workout days, life was just too busy but I am back and reved up! Good grief where does the time go?

I can't believe the month has flown by and where am I on my goals this month? Shame on me, I am aimlessly running around with no concrete plan of action! Yikes! That equals = failure Fear not, the plan is coming together and I know my year will end on a Rockstar Supa Star of results. I'm holding at 116-117 for some time now, so its time to kick it up a notch and bring on the muscles! Building muscles and working strength training is my favorite thing to do. This is not going to be my usual heavy lifting, I will be doing lighter and that is going to be fun.

I enjoy just seeing what I can lift from time to time just to prove that I am NOT 47! I really want some lean mass and can't wait to start this program. My areas that I feel need the most work are my glutes and waist. I got my chest smaller and now I think this will round it out nicely. Hey I know most women would love some off the "junk in the trunk" but honestly I DONT! I'm only looking to round out and lift, sounds so easy huh?

Some of my favorite glute moves are:
Laying glute press
Standing glute press
Dead lifts & Single leg dead lifts
Walking weighted lunges
Cresent lunges
I hate squats! I can never get deep enough and they just plain bore me to death. Yet, they are one of the best thats for sure.
Do you have a favorite Glute move?

Today I did 30 Day Shred Level 3 http://www.jillianmichaels.com/index.aspx

Its not a beachbody workout, but its still a good one. This does not EVEN compare to P90X it was much easier to me now. I wonder how her latest dvd is doing, I am sure its tougher. I think I may be addicted to home dvd workouts. I think because when its cold or raining or I feel like I want 10 extra minutes of sleep I can skip the gym and still get a GREAT workout.

Do you have a favorite dvd trainer?

There are getting to be so many good ones and when I grew up there were just a handful. Kathy Smith, Denise Austin, Jack La Lane, and the lady that was on channel 9 and 6am she was good. Now there are some greats, like JM, Tony Horton, Chalene, Cathe and so many more, not even counting Youtube. Heck I'm even on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/trainertfitness

I can't wait to go Belly dancing tonight. I'm going with my girlfriend Lisa and her friend from out of town. Its only $8 a class and its open at a wellness center its really fun and a very nice place. First after work though I am going to the chiropractor and I will be good as new, and as a matter of fact I am on cloud 9 today.

Why?

My So You Think You Can Dance Fit dvds came in! I am so stoked I will want to preview them this weekend. I was so happy to see them in the mail at work this morning! A fun workout, gotta love that. Does anyone have these yet?

Mistaken Identity....... I had some guy waving at me yesterday on the way home for work like he knew me. I was kinda creeped out, he was in a lawn care truck and I was thinking, do I know someone in lawn care? Duno off the top of my head, but he was smiling and pacing me like an old friend. Maybe he was someone I went to school with? Maybe just mistaken identity?

Ever have that happen?

You might be thinking T. he was probably hitting on you.....well I don't think so this did not seem like "try to pick T. up driving down the highway in her cute MINI". I mean once for years with my RX7 I had guys always waving like they knew me, and 3 years later I finally saw the "younger" girl that looked like me, in my same car.....dahhh what a blow to my ego that was! For years I told my boyfriend that awww it happens all the time, but really I was thinking W-H-A-T these guys are young. Not a bad thing right....ok, they needed to be legal at least.

Here is my workout today, and I hope to have my new program by Monday. Its ok, I had fun working out with JM today. What I did like was the jump moves, I love plyo it always gets me pumped plus I am good at it.

Brain Workout, its true!

Need a Brain Workout?

Here are 4 moves to do.

I found this article and wanted to share it, heck I need this I am over 30 and can't afford to loose anymore brain power sheesh! One reason is because its like changing your workout program, it can be uncomfortable and hard at first. Then you learn it, adapt and get better. At least I did. I had my shoulder injury a few months back, and had to do many things with my right hand. As a left handed person it was hard, I am not going to lie I felt like an idiot. Even simple tasks were like climbing Mount Everest!

I had to open the mail, stamp it, reach over and put on my seat belt and close and open my car door reaching with the opposite arm. At first I was frustrated as all get out....man it was taking me FOREVER to do something. Brushing my teeth or hair PLEASE! I am kinda energetic, alright super duper ball of energy and that did not sit well with me AT ALL! But what it did do is sharpen my brain power, I just did not know it at the time.

Have you ever done things with the opposite hand?

Try it, I challenge you for just one day TODAY. Each time you reach for something today, or go to do something try to do it with the opposite hand. Lets feed our brain today.

I also just did the last one #4 and it felt great, I will have to do it again at lunch time its very relaxing. Number 3 was hard as all get out, I really must need to do this move. How do I get better? Practice well of course!

4 Exercises to Sharpen Your Brain

by Dr. Maoshing Ni at Yahoo! Health Expert for Alternative Medicine

Think of your brain as a muscle:

It gets stronger with exercise. Your everyday mental tasks are like walking, but how about a real workout? Try these simple exercises to boost your brain power and clear away the fog of forgetfulness.

1. Use your non-dominant hand

Tackling new tasks improves brain capacity in younger people and has a restorative effect on mental faculties that are declining. Boost your brain power right now by performing everyday activities with your non-dominant hand. If you're right-handed, use your left hand to eat, drink, comb your hair, and brush your teeth. Try writing your name with your non-dominant hand or put your mouse pad on the other side of the keyboard. Why does this work? The human brain starts declining after the age of 30 especially in women with each successive pregnancy. By exercising your brain through the use of non-dominant hand, you are stimulating the opposite side of the brain and activating blood flow, which slows down the brain aging process and improves mental capacity. Evidence from functional brain imaging shows that the process of neuroplasticity -- the brain's natural ability to form new connections -- can be enhanced by studying new things, especially hand-eye coordinated exercises like developing the use of your non-dominant hand and practicing visualization meditation. For an effective guided visualization that will also increase your years, check out Meditations to Live to Be 100. Stimulating communication between the two hemispheres even helps physical balance. Mind-body exercises like tai chi coach people to use the right and left side of the body equally. Try switching it up in sports. For instance, in tennis, switch the racquet to your non-dominant side and play.

2. Work out your brain You have to use it or lose it!

You can work out your mind just like you work out your body. Mental exercises that will keep your brain fit include doing crossword puzzles, playing chess, or memorizing names, shopping lists, and phone numbers. When I was a young boy, to keep my brain function strong, my father had me memorize Tang Dynasty poetry. Every day I had to memorize a new poem and recite it back. Learn the words to a poem or a new song and repeat them back from memory. Set aside the calculator and add manually instead. Keep challenging yourself with tasks that are new to you. Whatever mental exercise you choose, the key to success is to practice every day at the same time; you are developing and activating new neural pathways, and consistent cycles will keep the brain on track.

3. Move your fingers to improve your brain

Many people marvel that Asian children seem so intelligent. It could be because they use their fingers more frequently. They eat with chopsticks and at one time, they used to compute with an abacus in school. In fact, some studies have been done with children who use an abacus daily, and findings show that engaging the fingers stimulates nerve endings that go directly to the brain, increasing circulation. Take advantage of this by practicing motor activities that use your fingertips, like crocheting, knitting, and other arts and crafts where you are manipulating small parts. Try playing the piano or a stringed instrument. Here is an exercise you can do anywhere, at any time. Put one finger on top of the one next to it, then try to stack the next finger on top of that. Or hold a pencil or pen between your index and middle fingers, roll it over until it's balanced between the middle and ring fingers, then again to between the ring finger and pinky. This exercise has a beneficial impact on brain health for anyone at any age, but especially for people in their 40s, 50s and beyond -- when signs of brain aging starts to set in. Why does this work? A map of the brain shows that the nerve endings on your fingertips correspond to more areas of the brain than any other body area, except perhaps the tongue and lips. Therefore, finger exercise and movements can be useful in stimulating the neurons in the brain. The National Institute of Mental Health conducted experiments that showed finger exercises enlarged the capacity of the participants' brains, increased connections between neurons, forged new neural pathways, and increased circulation to the brain areas. The researchers concluded that finger exercise contributed significantly to brain plasticity, the ability of the brain to renew itself. Increased circulation means more oxygen and nutrients for the brain cells and decreased waste products that clog up the brain.

4. Stimulate brain acuity with self-massage

To improve concentration and memory try this self-massage that stimulates two easy-to-find acupressure points on your neck at the base of the skull. Cross your hands behind you with the palms cradling the back of your head, your thumbs in the grooves on each side of your neck, and your index fingers crossing one another below the skull, just above the thumbs. Sit in a chair, lean your head back, and let it rest against the pressure of your thumbs and index fingers. Slowly inhale deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth, letting your whole body relax. Do this for three to five minutes. You'll increase blood flow to the brain and at the same time relax the neck muscles, which often tense up in response to stress, constricting blood vessels in the area. May you live long, live strong, and live happy! --Dr. Mao

Countdown To Time

Time waits for NO ONE!

Good grief I was going to post my pictures from before and after P90X but I had so much trouble loading them last night I may do that later. Technology!

How your goals are?
Has time been on your side?

If you have some and your tracking where you were with them, to where you want to be, maybe this link may help you. I loaded this on my site to get my butt working in a positive direction and I wanted to share it with you. Its a countdown clock, on the top right side of my blog and you can get one too.

I am finally debt free! Its true, it was my goal at age 47 so that I may start buying more real estate, start my ranch or another business. This has not been easy, and there have been many struggles along the way. But I did it and I am very proud of T.
The link I started tracking my networth on is pretty fun too. Its called Networth IQ and with a few simple entries your up and running. You don't have to give your real name or anything but you can track whatever finanaces you put in to see how you compare to others or even where you stand. Then there is an area to see what others are doing to increase wealth, its pretty cool.
Here is the link to find out your networth:
https://www.networthiq.com/

So I thought, I will start this clock ticking and see if I can't get motivated on making good things happen every day forward. Time waits for no one, so we should take advantage and do what we can each day. I can't believe how old I am, that along freaks me out.

Little things all add up, they really do.

When I was making all those payments that's all I would see, but little by little it happened and the slow and steady won the race. Just like fitness....each day little by little your body is making changes. You just have to stay the course, stay focused and it can happen.

NO matter what you have your mind set on, don't give up just keep plugging away and make it happen. I know that you will able to reach your goals, the clock is ticking so make it count!

Do You Run?

Time to run again

Today was my last P90X workout on the Lean program and I am so glad to be done. Thank you to all that supported me through this, I had some setbacks but still came through the finish line.

I am ready to get back to the gym. I of course have that love/hate relationship with Tony Horton anyway. Of course after you learn the moves you can put it on music with cues....thank goodness.

I plan to post my pics and stats and my input this weekend. I only have a wedding on Saturday so I should have time. You can be the judge if I look any different or not. I also am looking forward to getting back to the gym,I have spent $63 on my MIA membership.

I plan on running more in the fall and there is a 5k next month I could train for. I know I can't beat my 3rd place win on a first race, but I do enjoy the competition. Some days I can just run forever, it just clears my mind and once you kinda push past the pain level you get kinda on an adrenaline high. Really. I think that's why some runners are addicted and try to keep beating records, I am glad I never got addicted. Now chocolate or choc choc that's another story!

Lets see how my knees hold up, its been months since I ran or did the elliptical or stressful cardio.

Do you have problem knees?

I found this site on taping on Catlins Blog at A Healthy Tipping Point, has anyone done this?

http://www.kinesiotaping.com

I have sleeves I use, but this is even supposed to help heal and at $14 a roll its not a bad price, seems kinda cool. I got mine at Sports Athority
Like this but mine has a whole in the center for the knee cap.

Unfortunately my girlfriend called and said she had to cancel belly dancing so I went for a walk instead, it was nice out. I did get to see SYTYCD and I loved it! I can't wait to find out which one wins, both are talented and it would be hard to decide at this point. They both have adapted to different styles too so that really makes it tough. I of course love girl power so, that would rock!

Time to set some new goals.

How about you?

We are coming into a new season, and can make it whatever we want. Just stay focused and strong and it will happen.

Here is my workout & stats:

Are YOU A BeachBody Coach?

Is anyone a BeachBody Coach or use the BeachBody website? teambeachbody.com/trainert

I am a member, however I am not a coach.

If you are a coach and have any thoughts about it, please let me know. Or are you a member and want to be a coach?

I went to the chiropractor last night and I feel better today, still stiff. You should have heard the noise my goodness I was out of whack! He worked on my shoulder and I think it feels better too so that's a blessing. Gonna have him do that again, its my shoulder at the lateral.

The Supraspinatus, you can find that on this link. http://www.gwc.maricopa.edu/class/bio201/muscle/arm/shldra.htmHere is what it says about it.

Rupture of the supraspinatus tendon The supraspinatus runs along the top of the shoulder blade and inserts at the top of the arm (humerus bone). This muscle is used to lift the arm up sideways and is also important in throwing sports as it is the muscle that holds the arm in the shoulder joint when you release what you are throwing. This is why I have trouble with lateral lifts and deep push ups...owie!

http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/shoulder_injuries.htm

I do like this site for information, I even book marked it since its so good.

I'm excited to say that we are going Belly Dancing tonight again and I can't wait. I get to meet my girlfriends friend that is in visiting, she is going with us. I want to wear the fancy wrap too. It was a late night last night and I had to go out of town so I missed SYTYCD I was so disappointed. I got home at 9pm, and I left the house at 7.30am so I was very glad to be home. But by the time I got my lunch made, and showered it was almost 10pm and a 1/2 hour of reading then I could NOT sleep.

I could not get comfy which is normal after an adjustment, I think it was about midnight when I feel asleep and got up at 7am today.

Just 1 more recovery workout and I am an official P90X Grad, and and now its back to the gym. Off to get the Rockstar Body........

Do You Shake It UP?

I can't wait to shake it up!

Man oh man I am so happy to be done with this program, P90X. Just 2 sessions left. I'm going to do Yoga tomorrow and Stretch on Friday and start my new program on Saturday back at the gym.

I'm still reading the I Dare You book and am 1/2 way through it. I love the messages I am getting from Joyce. Now some of it really hits home with my sister, the whole chapter on L-A-Z-Y! The main message I got last night was Shake it up!

What she was talking about is that we are not meant to get stagnant in our life, we need passion. I have found that when you do the same things all the time its easy to look somewhere else, sometimes not in good places to find it.
Passion or excitement should be part of our lives but not in a bad way.
1. Food
2. Drinks
3. Gaming
4. Affairs
Or whatever pleasure you find, since your not getting it from being bored as all get out. She says you first should be grateful for what you have, and that's true its not always better on the other side. Also that making little changes in your life can help you.
1. Take a new road to work
2. Get out for lunch
3. Exercise
4. Call a friend
5. Try a new hobby
6. Switch your routine around
7. Go on a date with your spouse
Of course we know how this works with the body, you have to shake it up to get it to work harder but what about the spirit? If your doing something you really hate, then maybe you should look for a new approach, or be brave and make a change all together. I feel after doing the same job for 10yrs I try to make it fun by challenging myself to be "perky".
Do you shake things up?
Some of the ways I have recently tried to shake things up is:

1. P90X
2. Belly dancing
3. Learning computer programing
4. Spending more Godly time
5. Switching and trying better foods
6. Camping
7. Quick fire challenge
I'm still a work in progress but I am doing something everyday to keep me moving in the direction of FORWARD. I am still keeping my spirit alive and full of passion as I reach for my dreams and goals.
Here is my workout:

Green Monsters

My First GREEN MONSTER!

http://greenmonstermovement.com/

I am so exceited to share this with you all, I came across this on Caitli'ns blog, http://www.healthytippingpoint.com/and its from Angela's blog at http://www.ohsheglows.com/ they are both professional bloggers.

It's called The Green monster movement. Basically its a spinach or kale smoothie to give you natural energy and glow all day long. I had this at 11am today and will see how I feel the rest of the afternoon.

Here are my ingredients:

Along wtih some lovely dahlia flowers I picked yesterday.

My recipe which I kinda adjusted from Caitlins was:

2 cups spinach
1 cup silk natural soy
1 banana
1 tbs of vanilla

It as delish! I drank 1/2 since it made so much I then decided to add 1 scoop of 100% gold standard whey, and call this lunch. Y-U-M!

Of course I would have added pb however I had that on french toast this morning, and too much is just well too much pb!

I have not added up the calories or protein on this yet, but will after I see how I like this. You can find so many varities on the link, or even post your own recipe.

Happy drinking, I mean who can go wrong with a drink thats my favorite color and the color of money....please!
