Healthy Pumpkin Oat Cookies

Pumpkin is every where right now and I love pumpkin! If anyone has pumpkin ideas please let me know.

This morning I got up to do my 20 minute Zumba and was so sore from yesterdays workout.

Today's workout will be another run at lunch, actually over a 5K if I am motivated my standard time for that is 27.33 and today I should get in 40 minutes again.

What do you eat before you run?

Here is how I ended up with my workouts yesterday, which was good compared to my food log which was a bit high I should end up right at goal for the week.

Morning Workout - P90X Shoulders and Arms
Lunch workout - 5K
Evening - 1 hr Yoga Core

Workout time = 40 minutes + 40 + 60 = 2hr 20 min
Cals burned = 90 + 324 + 133 = 547

Striving for Core Synergistics tonight, since I did a double yesterday.

Thanks to my good friend Rachel_Mac for creating this recipe for me to share here it is:

7 miles down, 19.5 to go

This weekend I had a Rockstar workout weekend, now if only I could say the same about the Cookie monster! *sigh*

Saturday I was productive and thought I would start my marathon training start point. You may remember my goal was to run till I can't run anymore and then start working from there. I am training on an elliptical because it is easier on my knees instead of the treadmill. When the weather breaks I will move my training outdoors.

I ended up with a steady 12 minute mile on the elliptical for 7 miles. I did not feel tired or sore at all and I was still keeping a 1 minute calorie burn or close to it. The machine only does an hour so I cant tell you the calculations, but I did the 7 miles and then finished with 45 minutes of yoga.

Figuring I would be very sore on Sunday, surprise not too bad. Considering my workout was back and legs I was a bit concerned for 2 reasons.

1. Its been quite a while since I ran that kind of distance/amount of cardio in one session. (1 hr 15 mins straight)

2. Holding poses in yoga (45 mins) also put lots of pressure on my legs, and would I have enough recovery time for my back and leg workout the next day

What I was going to do was another cardio session on Sunday morning and then my workout, but figured I would not push it and would do the cardio later in the day. That did not happen, as domestic duties got in the way, plus cooking, filming and writing.

So I am grateful today I am teaching cardio mix and will get my cardio in and have extra time for recovery. I now know that when I do get to hit the pavement I believe I will be able to start with and easy 10 to 15 mile but will start to struggle I believe around the 20 mile marker. My pace will be at about 13 mile minute by my calculations.

I have NOT committed to any run at this point, but should I decide to do one it will be in the fall or next spring.

Marathon Training Day 1, P90X Day 58

I started practicing for a marathon over the weekend, I just did not get in the full amount I wanted to on Sunday. I felt I may get in a second 5 mile run that afternoon but it did not happen, time just got away with errands.

My goal was to just run at a nice pace till I could not run anymore and see how far and what my time was. I figured I would get in about 2 hours without any problem, as long as the weather was cool. Instead it was ugly and I had to do my training indoors so I choose the eliptical since its easy on the knees.

Feel really good today, nothing sore. I am sure I could have did another good steady hour or more. I don't have anything set up, or signed up for per say its just one of my 2010 goals to do a full Marathon.

That workout did put me 1 day behind in my P90X program so I am on day 58 today not 59.

Here are my stats from my Sunday run on the eliptical:

1 st mile time = 12.00 mph level 1 resistance 1
2nd mile time = 11.00 level 4 resistance 15
3rd mile time = 10.00 level 4 resistance 20

Mile 4 & 5 = level 1 resitance 1 and I did not track my time on the last 2 miles.
Here is how I ended up:
11.00 average mile = 5 miles = 55.00 min
9800 steps

I have not done this long of steady cardio in a very long time, but I felt I could have gone longer. This was a very nice pace for me, and I added the inclines just to get a better average on what it would be like on the pavement.

Todays workout & snack:

Post workout smoothie batch (Makes 6 cups)
1 c spinach (cooked in microwave)
3 scoop vanilla whey
3 bananas
3 c coconut milk
1 c blueberries........DELISH!

Do You Run?

Time to run again

Today was my last P90X workout on the Lean program and I am so glad to be done. Thank you to all that supported me through this, I had some setbacks but still came through the finish line.

I am ready to get back to the gym. I of course have that love/hate relationship with Tony Horton anyway. Of course after you learn the moves you can put it on music with cues....thank goodness.

I plan to post my pics and stats and my input this weekend. I only have a wedding on Saturday so I should have time. You can be the judge if I look any different or not. I also am looking forward to getting back to the gym,I have spent $63 on my MIA membership.

I plan on running more in the fall and there is a 5k next month I could train for. I know I can't beat my 3rd place win on a first race, but I do enjoy the competition. Some days I can just run forever, it just clears my mind and once you kinda push past the pain level you get kinda on an adrenaline high. Really. I think that's why some runners are addicted and try to keep beating records, I am glad I never got addicted. Now chocolate or choc choc that's another story!

Lets see how my knees hold up, its been months since I ran or did the elliptical or stressful cardio.

Do you have problem knees?

I found this site on taping on Catlins Blog at A Healthy Tipping Point, has anyone done this?

http://www.kinesiotaping.com

I have sleeves I use, but this is even supposed to help heal and at $14 a roll its not a bad price, seems kinda cool. I got mine at Sports Athority
Like this but mine has a whole in the center for the knee cap.

Unfortunately my girlfriend called and said she had to cancel belly dancing so I went for a walk instead, it was nice out. I did get to see SYTYCD and I loved it! I can't wait to find out which one wins, both are talented and it would be hard to decide at this point. They both have adapted to different styles too so that really makes it tough. I of course love girl power so, that would rock!

Time to set some new goals.

How about you?

We are coming into a new season, and can make it whatever we want. Just stay focused and strong and it will happen.

Here is my workout & stats:

5K Bulldog Dash T. Places 3rd

T. wins 3rd Place Class 5K Bulldog Dash

http://www.germantownbulldogs.org/

This race was for a school located in Germantown Illinois, its all about the kids. The metal is really cute it has the schools mascot of a bulldog on it and its on a white ribbon, I was shocked to get a win on my first official 5k race. Out of the 3 of us that ran, I was the only one to place and I was the slowest too. My time was 28.3 class 44-49 however I am not a fast runner, I am more a long distance and a basic cardio queen so to speak. It was a nice day for the run, and a very good cause. The champ was from Jamacia and ran a 5.2 mile. WOW!

Today I started Week 3 day 1 of P90X and am doing the Lean Program.

It was Core Synergistics, and just as tough as the others. I liked most of the moves on this especially the squat runs and prison pushups. Those prison pushups are like a burpe, so you get a full core body workout sweet! Also did regular pushups, not modified today.

Here are my workouts:
5/16 P90X Ab Ripper
5K run - T. won 3rd place in class nice suprise!

5/17
45 Min walk

5/18 P90X Core synergistics - I started the Lean Version
Mood - Sleepy
Wt - 122
Time of workout - 30 mins

Today I did 30 minutes of this 60 minute workout. Its tough, and I was still sore so the lunges were a KILLER!

2x7 Stacked pushups
1 Min -Banana curls - I did Superman's instead
24 - Crescent reach lunge
1 Min - Squat run w/3lb DB - love these
5 - Sphinx pushups
15 Bow to boats
24 Low Lateral skaters
24 Lunge & reach
5 Prison Pushups - these are like a mountain climber in between
30 - Side hip raises

Circuit Outdoor Running

Today's cardio session will be a run in the park. I will do intervals and inclines, making this a challenging workout. I love parks and am a big fan of them. Running, hiking or camping, either way when I am near the outdoors I just feel refreshed and energized. I am hoping the weather holds, its sunny and windy just the way I like it.
I have just not been in the mood for the stuffy gym in the mornings. Can I call this spring fever? Lets hope, because I have been working out, just not in my typical way.
Last night I was in carb fat heaven! The only good news was that it was a strength training day. I went my credit union meeting dinner, and the buffet was very good. Its at a banquet hall near my house called Andres.
I can't remember the last time I had pasta or rice, so it was a treat. We had the meeting agenda given to us then dinner was served followed by mouse racing. Now this was not for real money, it was for chips that were later turned in for tickets for attendance prizes. I had never seen this before and I have to admit it was very fun and cute. Well if you like varmints. They put them in a gated long glass enclosed trails all on top of each other in a row numbered track 1-6. They had to run down to the end then back to the start to be a winner. I actually won 2 times, then I had to leave so I gave the tickets to the people at the table.
The food was salad, white pasta, green beans, baked chicken and roast beef. All was very tasty, and I tried a bit of everything. I also had a small piece of cheesecake for dessert and a coffee. It was your typical wedding food, and they do a nice job of serving. So my numbers are off a bit for last night in cals and fat grams.
I should be able to do 3-5 miles for my cardio today and I may even squeeze in some ab work. I just love to do my run outside in the fresh air, it just makes me feel so alive when I am near nature. I even do some sprints, with sets of jumping jacks lots of ways to make this more a circuit then just a straight run.
I will be doing a 3 mile run next month for Charity which is no struggle for me if its on flat land. I try to add inclines but I will watch that near the race so I don't end up with any injuries.
